Meet the chef

The Lost Taco was born from Alex’s pride in his roots and his love for sharing the real flavors of Mexico. Growing up, he was surrounded by the tastes of home his mom’s cooking, grandma’s pozole, and freshly made tortillas that filled the kitchen with warmth and tradition.

After working in fine dining, Alex realized what he truly loves are the simple, soulful flavors that feel like home. He created The Lost Taco to show you the authentic side of Mexico.

About Jorge

My name is Jorge, I’m a cook born and raised in Mérida, Yucatán, with a deep passion for food and culture. I truly believe that food is one of the most powerful ways to connect people, emotions, and traditions.

Yucatecan cuisine is second to none, and I feel incredibly grateful to share my heritage through it. On my food tours, I love introducing guests to authentic flavors, ancestral recipes, and the history behind our local markets and hidden spots.

Guests often describe me as passionate, warm, informative, and patient. I lead my tours in both English and Spanish and I’m always excited to keep learning new languages to share my culture with even more people around the world. Most importantly we’re going to have fun along the way!

About Charlie

My name is Carlos Garay, born and raised in Valladolid, Yucatán. I’m a tour guide specializing in gastronomic experiences with The Lost Taco Food Tours, where I share the culture, history, and flavors of Valladolid and the Yucatán region.

I enjoy sharing stories, fun facts, and lesser-known details about traditional Yucatecan cuisine, its ingredients, and origins. I believe food is one of the best ways to understand a culture, and my goal is to create authentic, engaging, and memorable experiences.

I studied at Universidad Uno de Oriente, learning Italian and French, and later strengthened my English at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada. This allows me to connect with travelers from different cultures and guide tours in multiple languages, while helping guests discover Yucatán beyond the usual tourist path.

About Andrea

My name is Andrea, and I’m a food expert with a deep love for Yucatecan gastronomy. My passion for Yucatecan cuisine has grown through experience, curiosity, and time spent learning from the culture itself, not only for its flavors, but for the traditions, care, and hard work behind every single dish.

What I’m most passionate about is sharing the stories, respect, and love I have for the food and for the hands that create these incredible recipes. There’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing guests truly savor each bite and connect with the culture behind it.

I guide tours in both Spanish and English, and I’m always excited to meet new people, connect with every guest, and share the culture I deeply love in a warm, authentic, and meaningful way.
